UNusual goings on at home

My mom had this

painting up on her wall when I was growing up. Then, years later, LeeAnn and I got two kittens who almost exactly matched what the kittens in the paintings looked like. Then my mom gave me this picture for my wall. A little unusual, I think.

I remember that cute little painting. I'm glad she gave you a painting of hers. She began that one of Mt. Baker for me long ago and it was never completed :(

If I were very talkative as a kid I would've been one of those kids who asked a zillion questions because I want to know the who's, what, whys about things. Instead, I found stimulation in other ways. I read a lot of books, explored outdoors day and night, walked for hours, and worked for pay beginning at age 10 at a variety of jobs (babysitting, berry picking, parks and rec job, fast food-- all of these before I turned 18). With all that I even managed to graduate high school, though it bored me to death (I still don't appreciate rote memorization).

My tastes have changed. In middle school I had a tragic romantic phase (didn't have any, just read about them). Then in high school I read many books about mental illness and the supernatural. I started down the wayward path a little, but soon ended up independent and living in Seattle, working and grocery shopping and having misadventures.

Nowadays, in my 50s, I still read and go on adventures. I volunteer. I am a good enough mom to my 21-yr old daughter. I majored in journalism because I love interviewing people and hearing their stories. Because I'm curious. Aren't you? I welcome and encourage story ideas, photos, and comments. ~Karlee
